Community Cohesion
About us
Community Cohesion is what must happen in all communities to enable different groups of people to get on well together. A key contributor to community cohesion is integration which is what must happen to enable new residents and existing residents to adjust to one another.
The lesson plans and resources on this website were developed by a group of teachers and young people from Stockport who wanted to create some stimulating lessons around community cohesion. The hope is that these lessons will encourage and inspire teachers to provide learning opportunities for young people to explore issues which can be somewhat sensitive, such as immigration and racism.
Community cohesion is a strand that can easily run through different curriculum areas and we believe that teaching and learning will be most effective if teachers from subject areas work together.
Those of us involved in this small project are by no means experts in community cohesion; we are simply a group of teachers and young people who believe in a shared future. We would welcome your comments on what is going on in your school around community cohesion.
